Maxime Martin and GT-rookie Bertrand Baguette drove their #41 Ford GT of the Marc VDS Racing Team to 4th in the Spanish round of the GT1 World Championship, the team’s best result of the year. After a magnificent race the Aston Martin #22 Kronos/Marc VDS conquered seventh place in the Le Mans 24 Hours. And to say that five weeks earlier the team was not even sure of an entry! Vanina Ickx (despite a lost wheel in the first hour and a slight contact on Sunday morning), Maxime Martin (‘Rookie of Le Mans’) and Bas Leinders (faultless) drove an almost perfect race to get a great result and get a podium finish in unofficial category of the petrol-engined prototypes. Even though the highly awaited 24 Hours of Le Mans is almost knocking at the door for Maxime Martin, who will be part of the Kronos / Marc VDS Racing outfit at the wheel of the Lola Aston Martin LMP1, the young Belgian headed off for Silverstone this weekend for the renowned Tourist Trophy, to compete not only in the 5th round of the FIA GT1 World Championship but also the 2nd meeting of the FIA GT3 European championship.
